I started in the fire service as a volunteer firefighter in 1991, I knew immediately that the fire service was going to be my career choice. I went to the Fire Academy in 1992 and started testing to get a career firefighting job. I was finally hired in 2001 by the Greenville City Fire Department. My father has always loved the outdoors and lucky for me, when I was 8, I convinced my dad that I was ready to go hunting. My dad would take me rabbit hunting and we started trapping muskrats. I loved every bit of it! As I grew older, my father introduced me to deer hunting and that became a real passion for me. Over the years, I have tried my best to hunt whatever I could (whenever I could!), so when I was hired at the Fire Department in 2001, I was asked to hunt geese in the late season. I went and guess what? I was hooked! Since then, I have hunted all types of waterfowl, but the Honkers are my favorite. I have a great family! It consists of my wife(Liz), two daughters (Leah ,14 and Ripley, 11), and my buddy HAMMER. Both of my daughters love hunting, but turkey hunting is their favorite. All of my girls love to fish and camp, so that is what we spend the summer doing. Liz, my wife of 16 years, is my soul mate and I am blessed to have found her. Thanks Liz for being so supportive of me and my “habits” over the years. If I can assist anyone, please feel free to e-mail me at Dirk Lewis. |
