It is great that we have the opportunity to train in a few houses slated to be torn down. We had a good day of training, being able to set up scenarios in a structure that no one had been in. I little difficult to simulate fire using just cones, but the use of a smokemachine and a few nails and paint made for a great refresher and getting us to think again. We went all out to include a training dispatch along with radio traffic to our ECO's. Things learnt we feel were always read the building prior to search, think about fire spread, and how can we effectively use a TIC and what do we actually look for with it. After the initial scenario we were able to hit on TIC usage and Roof Vent Ops. Good job by all. And we need to remember we don't have to burn in vacant buildings to get needed training.  Stay Safe

Sounds great.  A little bit of sweat during realistic training will pay off for the real deal.
